ELVs are making this years Super14 season the best on record (imo) .

the proof ? more tries scored by forwards then backs .
not because of mud soaked pitches favouring drives by the burly men … . . . .
but by genuine skill levels in handling, passing, even kicking increasing in the forwards .

… . . . . …. also as the pace of the ball moving around the field has increased the people on the mark have needed to be able to make the transition from defence to offence _or vice-versa quicker .

and so the Northern Unions paranoia increases as the sucess of this years season rolls onto the semis .

” the roll of the forward pack will be lost ” – nonsense . there will still be scrums, there will still be lineouts, there will still be forwards . they just won’t be fattys that the UK seems to have some sorta pie-induced soft spot for .

i can only see a legitimate excuse in the weather – Northern pitches may be more rain-sodden and heavy; but i’m sure their gameplay can be adapted to that… . . . . .

With Prime/Sky owning the rights to the games and deliberately dragging their heels with implementation of Prime on Freeview it kinda makes me wonder what sorta archaic organisation it is . Their view is it will cost too much dosh to upgrade their (obviously) shitty gear to make it work . An upgrade which seems destined to go ahead in the future anyway – Sky: HiDef ? hello ? whereIs ?

i like Prime, it has good, entertaining shows; unbloated news; rugby; and not much ego

i also have a sky box which gets me good reception, but i’m willing to flick if to get some 720p tasty .

if they can’t even pull their finger out of SD and set a deadline to when the people of NZ will actually be able to use their hiDef sets for the purpose that was intended, then i guess they/we’ll go somewhere that does .
